Question:

UK Plummer's, I have another question about a boiler this time.?

I asked earlier about replacing my cylinder, now im wondering as this needs to be done, would it be better at this time if i could afford it, to actually change my whole system, as in a new boiler which does not need a water tank.My current boiler is a Potterton Netaheat 50e. What is the going rate for this work please? Thanks again in advance :)

Answer:

B is correct in one thing, if it breaks down you have no heating or hot water however a properly installed and maintained quality boiler (combi) is not really any more or less likely to breakdown that a normal boiler. What you need to also consider is by changing to a combi that is more or less all you need but if you change you Netaheat to a comparable boiler you will need to replace you hot water cylinder and possibly the controls and cold water tank to bring the whole system to todays standards to comply with Building Regulations. Its really only something worth considering if you were also going down the road of solar panels as well.
you are thinking of a combi. dont get one, when it goes you have no heating or hotwater
