Question:

Universal cold air intake?

Want to add a cold air intake to my Bronco II 2.9L V6, but can't find a kit made for it specially. I ran across some universal K and N brand ones. Does anyone have any experience with them? Will they give me as much of a boost as one specially made for it?

Answer:

It's not just unused tyres, even used ones will go flat. It happens to all tyres because they're not perfectly air-tight. You can have your car tyres filled with nitrogen which will make them last longer.
Because - rubber is a porous material - permeable by water, air, etc. No.air can't won't leak out immediately - but slowly over time. Also, air temperature has a lot to do with it. The lower the air temperature goes, the lower the air pressure in the tire. (Bike tire or car tire.especially car tire.) Air is denser in cold weather, packing the air molecules closer together thus lowering the air pressure.
just get a drop in KN filter
why r u adding it? it won't do anything at all my experience with products labled universal, usually means, it does not fit on any car you can custom build one out of fiber glass, and just buy the filter you can build one out of pvc pipes and wrap it in heat resistent wrap and re route the intake to take in fresh air from the coldest place under your hood my advice is don't do it
An after market cold air intake (regardless of whether it is a name brand or generic-universal fit) will add virtually no improvement in performance (it is only effective in conjunction with a complete performance program). If you install it you will notice no difference in your drive or your Bronco's response. If you plan further modifications, certainly proceed - the universal applications are ok (better than stock), if you do not see investing in further performance installations DO NOT install it, its a waste of money. regards engineer, past/present owner of supercharged/modified cars
