Question:

Normal for gas oven set off smoke alarms?

Usually about 5 minutes after i turn on my gas oven, the smoke alarm goes off in the kitchen, then the one in the living room, then the bedroom. There is no smoke coming from the oven, no residue burning on the bottom or sides, and it's not carbon monoxide. We have a working carbon monoxide detector in the kitchen too, and that never goes off. It doesn't do this when i light the range, just the oven. The smoke alarm is also at least fifteen feet away from the oven. Why is it doing this??

Answer:

You do it and send me the bill. Keep the cost less than replacing it with plasticNever heard of cast iron supply lines..
Generally no, you will have to remove it and have it welded. One good thing is that Honda's have problems cracking exhaust manifolds, so aftermarket ones exist that are better than the original ones
Just answering to put the first 2 answers right: Insurance will not pay, a water leak is general wear and tear. Unless a tree has been uprooted or something ( but it doesn't sound like it from your question ) The water company is not responsible for the water pipe from the stopcock onwards. The stockcock is normally located in the road, the meter in new houses is on the wall to the house. You are responsible for the pipe between. Some people here say from the meter onwards, thats not right, its the stopcock Some Water companies will repair leaks ( at thier own time convinience ) in your ground. This is just thier own good will to help reduce leaks. Asking them the question can open up a mindfield as they can then put you on 7/14/28 days notice to get it fixed yourself. Personally, I'd take responsibility and dig it up myself, its only a cheap job
This will all depend on the size of the pipe and the pressure flowing through it. But typically, water lines in the ground are patched with what is called a saddle clamp. The water flow to the pipe is shut off and allowed to depressurize. They will clean off the outside of the pipe and wrap a thick rubber sheet around the hole and apply a steel saddle over the rubber sheeting. The saddle is bolted into place causing the rubber to be pressed against the pipe and sealing the leak.
