Question:

Viper Car Alarm wont de-activate?

I live in Phoenix and it is extremely hot. Occasionally when it is very hot my Viper alarm will not turn off. Is there something I can do to deactivate the alarm when this occurs?

Answer:

If this is a Viper with the windshield mounted antenna, my guess is there is a problem inside that antenna. When the circuit board gets hot, it is disconnecting some bad solder joints inside, or just freaking out a chip in there. If it is under warranty, take it in and have them replace the antenna. If it is not, take the antenna off the windshield and move it under the dashboard maybe above the glove box. See if you notice the difference. This will tell you for sure if that needs to be replaced. In the mean time, if you need to override the alarm manually, there should be a defeat or valet button hidden somewhere. Most installers like to but this little black or red button above or to the left the brake pedal area, in the fuse box area, in the glove box area, or on the side of the center console. Some can be quite creative with placement, so happy hunting there. To use it, open the door with your key (the alarm will be going off), locate the button, turn your ignition key to the ON position (all your dash indicator lights should turn on), then within a few seconds press that hidden button. This should defeat the alarm for you. Good Luck!
Meaning.it goes off constantly or will not dearm? You can always hook up a power break for the constant power to the brain.
