Question:

want to get a motorcycle but?

instead of a car i want a motorcycle. i like to be different and yea lol. but i live in Toronto so im worried about what will happen in the winter ? what if i need to go to work? btw im only 16 and any advice is appreciated

Answer:

Dont. Ur 16 theres no rush into buying a motorcycle instead of car, buy a car, save up money for a motorcycle and then be in the safety of ur car in winter time and go wild in the summer
Toronto is a very motorcycle-unfriendly city at any time of year. A friend of mine with MANY years of riding experience sold his bike after moving there. The car drivers are simply too crazy and inconsiderate. Apart from that, you CAN NOT ride a motorcycle on the street in snow and icy conditions. There are no snow tires made for bikes. You will fall and get run over. Plus, the road salt will destroy your bike in the first winter. There is no anti-rust treatment for motorcycles, either. Finally, the cost for insurance for young, novice riders in Toronto is HUGE: At least $2,000 for your first year, on a small, used bike.
Tho I love my motorcycle, on cold, rainy, snowy days, I would MUCH rather be in my warm cozy dry pick-up. And I don't live in a city where the avg temp in Dec, Jan Feb is 30 degrees. Only do this if you don't need transportation much in the winter, and/or you can borrow your parents car (alot).
