Question:

water in my 2002 suburban air intake?

i went driving through some puddles lastnight (bad idea)and then all of a sudden my service engine light came on. I drove back home (five miles) and tried to see what was wrong. i found out that my airfiler was soaking wet and there was some water in the bottom on the air filter. so i have a couple questions.1-how do i take out the housing for the air filter so i can clean all the mud and junk out?2-will the water that got sucked through the intake damage my engine? i only drove about 8-10 miles since the water got in.3-and if it will damage the engine is there anything i can do? or just let it dry out. Thanks

Answer:

If you went 8-10 miles already and didn't hurt the motor, you should be ok. What I would do is take the air intake pipe off, dry it out, and any water you see in the throttle body. Then remove the air filter and dry the inside out and put a new air filter in. You might want to spray some WD-40 into the throttle body to disperse any moisture you cant get to. PS If you want to be on the safe side, remove the spark plugs and make sure there is no residual water in the cylinders by turning the engine over and blowing any out, then spray WD-40 in there to disperse the rest. Hope this helps and good luck
i dont see it messing up your motor but just follow the hose and loseing up the screws on the end of the motor and air filter box
