Question:

Cement silo opening clogged?

we have many cement silos in the factory and i am facing a problem in one of them filled with 100 ton of cement, one of the filter elements came out from the filter body and clogged the cement silo opening, is there any idea how to remove the filter element from the opening without loosing the cement

Answer:

If you fit a valve to the opening and remove the bag through the open valve, then you can close the valve. You will need to check on the valve type
Maybe you could get a claw on a pole manufactured and feed it down through the cement and extract it from top.
Under the silo there is usually a butterfly valve with a screw conveyor below it.Never let the dislodged filter element gets into the screw conveyor ! It will cause more problems. You need to drop your conveyor ( at the motor end / below the silo ), if your butterfly valve is not jammed, slowly and partially open the valve to retrieve the filter element. you will bound to loss some cement anyway. However, IF the cement at the bottom of your silo is hardened.. then you might consider oxy-cutting a small opening to try your luck and at the same time, break / remove those hardened cement. Good Luck! Try Your Best To Avoid Environment Pollution and Look After Safety of people working on the silo too :)
