Question:

Wedding chair replacement?

Well I have ran into a little issue with my wedding ceremony...The only place I have managed to find to rent enough chairs for my wedding is booked full (of course) well my wedding will be taking place outside in June so I would really like to have something for guests to sit on (not the ground). Any one have any creative ideas....my mother suggested bales of hay.... Future brides learn from my mistake it's never to early to book your rentals :/

Answer:

Is renting chairs from two different companies feasible? Ie half from one place, half from another? If they look different or have different chair covers or something, consider alternating them so they blend in together. If that's not an option, perhaps consider just having seating for elderly/pregnant guests and have the rest stand. If it's just for the ceremony and the reception is elsewhere, it won't be for too long.
Keep looking. I find it hard to believe you can't find chairs to rent for an event 4 months away. Many churches and halls have chairs... is there someone you know with a contact in a church? Hay is better than nothing, but I would not want hay all over my dress.
Where is your reception at? Can you borrow chairs from there? Check with local halls and churches to see if they have enough chairs that you can rent from them. Many outdoor weddings only have a few chairs set up for parent and grandparents (and any other elderly persons), the rest of the guests just stand. Most ceremonies only last about 20 minutes...and you can make sure yours is on the shorter side rather than longer. Bales of hay would be fine if your doing a country or western wedding....otherwise it will look silly...JMHO
Besides churches, and draping bales of hay with linens, is your reception being catered? a lot of times catering companies will rent chairs too. Or if not, then keep looking for other chair rental companies. There are a lot of them, especially in metropolitan areas. If you are getting married in a more secluded area than maybe the bales of hay would match your theme and area!
How many guests and where are you located? Yes, you can use bales of hay with linens draped over so guest will not have hay all over their clothes. Check with a local restaurant that may be closed at the time your ceremony and reception takes place and ask if you can borrow them and give them free advertising in your program (nothing fancy just a mere mention). You can also check with Parks Recreation, a local VA hall or even other churches. If you have to go with the ground (for some odd reason) make it fun with blankets that guests can take home with them. It really depends on your style or theme of your wedding that dictates what to use.
