Rockers are metal almost c shaped parts on a engine valve that help oil flow to the top of the engine. They rest on the cam shaft.
changing the fluid probably won't help, i normally don't recommend additives and such because they rarely work, however i have used (lucas) automatic trans treatment for shifting and slipping problems at a used car lot that i once worked for as a mechanic, and it actually works! I would say it fixed 8 out of 10 cars with trans trouble, i would give it a try, good luck.
This is the o-rings in the transmission fluid pump. The hesitation going into drive is the line pressure taking extra time to build up, due to pressure loss thru the o-rings. This is a very common issue with the Subaru 4eat transmission, and does not affect transmission life. The only way to fix the trans you have is to pull it out and re-seal the pump (its behind the torque converter). This issue was resolved with the 2000 model year.
