Question:

What are the clear sheets used to insulate your windows called?

We're realizing with the cooler nights that our new apartment is VERY drafty, and I really don't feel like spending a fortune in heating cost this winter. I know there is some type of clear sheeting you can put over your windows by attaching it to the frame using a hair dryer...what are they called??

Answer:

Saran Wrap!!! J/k, but seriously, try caulking around all your doors, windows etc, and weatherstrip thresholds. Good luck. P.S. if you have a fireplace, close the damper and check vents (if you have a dryer area but no clothes dryer plug vent)
shrink plastic available at any building supply house and most hardware stores
Window insulation kits. They come with two-sided tape and plastic sheeting. You stick it on and shrink it to a tight fit with a blow dryer.
