Question:

what are the colored wires to wire up a trailer harness?r1259029257?

i am hooking up a wiring harness on a 2000 ford ranger and cant figure out the wires to hook up and what they are

Answer:

Your friendly neighborhood auto parts store should have a wiring kit for your truck complete with instructions and diagrams.
you need to buy the harness for that particular truck, there's a plug already there for it, if you start hacking into wires you'll have more problems than you can believe. and I'm not going to explain it here, just trust me, there like $20 bucks and will save you a world of headaches.
Generaly speaking: Red Right turn Yellow left turn White ground Blue running/parking lights brown electric brakes Most trailer sales places can sell you a simple adapter that sipmply plugs into your truck wires behind the bumper.
What kind of connector? How many wires? There are several different types of trailer plus out there. The most common is the four wire flat connector. The wiring for those is: yellow left turn/brake green right turn/brake brown taillights white ground Easy way to remember that is that green and right both have an R in it, as in Right turn. Yellow and left both have an L in it as in Left turn. There are also 6 wire round connectors and 7 wire round connectors. Totally different wiring for those.
