What are the differences between 43 grade and 53 grade cement?

Answer:

What are the differences between 43 grade and 53 grade cement
The grade is the index of strength measured as the compressive strength measured in laboratory of the cement cubes (of 50cm2 sides) on 28th day as 43 MPa 53 MPa (mega pascals). There is also 33 grade portland cement available which is the mostly widely used in civil constructions even today. higher the strength stonger is the cement, obviously and more expensive too.
The strngth of cement such as 53 or 43 grade does not hold any consideration during calculation of Mix Design. It has no parameter at all. More over in India Hybrid no cement has been designated in grade apart from 33 grade. Over and above use of OPC cement all over the world is decreasing considerably. Hence by producing higher grade of cement the Cement Companies simply befooled us.
Its about your requirement where you are using the cement.Grade 53 cement has higher rate of gaining strength as compared to grade 43 due to its hydration heat (which is obviously greater than that of grade 43 cement). Thus where high strength is to be concerned ,grade 53 would be preferred. For small scale grade 33 and 43 is preferable because in case of grade 53 the heat evolution is much higher which actually affects the interior temperature ... the quick changes in temperature rise or fall also results with cracking. ...
