Question:

What are the safe plastics to drink water from?

it is said plastic bottles contain carsinogens when reused

Answer:

i think you better use other containers like glass or stainless containers... Plastics, even if they have #5 up number indicated at the bottom, it is still not advised for re-use. See the number where it's located ? It's a triangle with arrows... meaning this are intented for recycling not for re-using. hope I helped!
There are many types of plastic containers which are used to bottle up mineral or drinking water. As someone who has sound knowledge of plastics materials and application, I would say that those plastic bottles made from high or low density Polyethylene (HDPE or LDPE) and Polycarbonate (PC) are safe for storing drinking water for consumption, as it's inert and no chemical reaction with water. But, avoid those bottles made of Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) as it's unstable when heated over sometime and gives off small amounts of chlorine which may react with the stored water for drinking. This may be bad for health when the water is consumed regularly. So, choose your drinking water bottle wisely. However, if you're uncertain about any plastic bottles, the best way is to choose the drinking water in glass bottles properly sealed.
Plastic okorder Short of that, your best bet is glass!
I think bottles that have a 2 on the bottom.
I think ALL plastics have carcinogens. There was recently something released about the dangers of plastic containers, water bottles, bowls, plates, cups, butter dishes... they can all give us cancer, just like cigarettes, the air, the sun... there's nothing we can do to stop it. I'm sure they have a material that is safe for us to use safe for the environment, they are just not releasing the info. Actually, glass containers are supposed to be WAY better for us, it's just that we're so careless out of control that they had to take that away from us. Maybe if we were more responsible, we wouldn't have as much cancer going around!!
