What can I build a portable geodome (geodesic dome) shelter with that will support a hammock?

Answer:

Where I live in SC you can recycle both those itemsSo I guess it sort of depends on what your area offers in the way of recyclingWe take our recycle to a local recycling drop of center and they accept almost anythingPlastic, cardboard, soda cans, veggie cans, glass - clear and colored, paper, lumber, aluminum foil, computer and electronic items - almost any and everything that can be recycled So again I would say yes, both the glass bottle and the aluminum foil can be recycled it just depends on if your local recycling center will take them.
Previous poster said it alldepends on what's available where you liveI work for a local recycling company and we can take any glass bottles for recycling along with the aluminum foil if it is cleanno melted cheese or other foods in it etcIf you take you recycling to igloos, contact the owner and they'll let you know.
As a practical solution, I personally would separate the problem into two parts: 1A light-weight geodesic domeThe dome struts would only be strong enough to support the canvas coveringQuarter-inch-diameter fiberglass struts are commonly usedMany camping tents are available, in a variety of sizes and at a reasonable price2A separate metal frame to support the hammock itselfHere again, there are steel-tube or aluminum-tube frames available at a reasonable priceThis is a lower-cost, lighter-weight solution.
