Question:

What can I use instead of wax paper for chocolate bark?

I have plastic wrap, or plastic containers, so maybe I could use the plastic container lids as a tray to pour the hot chocolate onto? I live in a college dorm so no one really has any wax paper or aluminum foil or anythingMy only problem with trying the plastic wrap is I'm afraid the chololate might melt it, or it'l never come off the frozen chocolate.

Answer:

wrap it tight plastic and put it in the freezer,,,no joke, wks great
leave it soak in paint thinner, lacquer thinner, or mineral spirits in an old coffee can or similarMake sure it totally covers the bristlesCover the top with aluminum foil so it won't evaporate overnightWhen you go to use it, simply bang the side of the brush against a hard object to get most of the liquid out.
If the chocolate melts your plastic wrap.your chocolate is WAY too hot, as for it coming off the frozen chocolate.no worries, it should pull right outAlternative to waxed paper is to take a bit of plain paper and give it a brush of oil.effectively creating greased paper (parchment) I'm guessing since you are dorm cooking, you are using a microwave to melt the chocolate? If so, do it by using one container with water in it, and the second container (with the chocolate in it) over that oneHeat the water first in the microwave until boiling, then remove and place the second container over the hot waterCover it, let it sit a few minutes, stir the chocolate and almonds (damn.now I want almond bark!!!!!) let rest again, reheat the water as neededWhen it is melted, pour over your plastic wrap or DIY greased paper, chill and serve! Bon Appetit
