Question:

what color walls and curtains go good with chocolate colored comforter?

Im redoing my M.bedroom and bath. I just purchased a new chocolate comforter for my bed. I have oak flooring and a king mahogony 4 poster bed. Im needing some help on the color in which I should paint the walls and also what color curtains to use. The comforter is different textures velvet, satin, fur with each making a 12 inch stripe down the comforter. The satin has a little gold swirl in it. That is the only color besides the chocolate. In the m.bathroom everything is white except the oak cabinets. Should I paint a chocolate accent wall? Please help?

Answer:

Deep Burgundy or a Red Wine color walls with Light choclate color curtains. An accent wall in the m. bathroom would be nice, but not necessary - maybe tie the two rooms together with accent towels in the bathroom using the m.bedroom colors.
I would use a cream or light gold color on the walls with gold sheers for the windows. You could do a chocolate accent wall in the bath to bring the color in there.
Whatever you do, don't leave your walls white!.. :) Chocolate colored comforter can go well with a dark beige wall. I always thought that a light blue color goes really well with a brown comforter. The curtains should match your comforter. If it has any patters, you can always go with the same color of the pattern. I'd go with the light blue walls, and dark brown curtains. You can always accent the light blue walls with the same chocolate color. that would look awesome..
Canary yellow or stripe curtain will be nice. Cobalt blue is also a pretty colour. Use some wall decals to spruce up white walls, easy to install & remove. Important to hang curtain rod a little higher than the window, this will give an impression that the ceiling is high. Coloured ceiling (sky blue) follow same colour to 1 side of wall (where bed is) will also give the same effect. All white walls usually makes room smaller.
Find a really helpful site below with a color wheel and multiple ideas for both the curtains and the wall color. I would not paint a chocolate accent wall with all the browns you already have and woods. But you could if that is what you want but I am afraid it will make the room look very dark. But one way of making the room work is doing it with the same color. Take paint samples home to look at them in the light the paint or fabric will be in.
