Question:

What continuity is Transformers Prime in?

I want to start watching Transformers Prime on TV, but I want all the backstory of just THAT universe, because i know there are MANY Transformer universes from Bay to Generation 1 to this. I just want to know what to read and watch before watching this series. Thanks!

Answer:

It's called the Aligned universe.
I'm not sure but I think all of the latest series are connected but here are a few sites that should be able to help you
Transformers Prime is set in a new continuity family, launched recently by Hasbro and also includes the War for Cybertron video games. It's really complicated, but in short, you only need to know that you do not need to watch, play or read any previous Transformers material to watch this series. Even the War for Cybertron games, which are supposed to be in the same continuity family, actually clash with the events of the TV series to the point that they're effectively a separate continuity. I myself have not played the game and it's perfectly fine. Also, I've provided links for the ultimate Transformers wiki so that you can do research on whatever aspect of the Transformers universe that you want. Don't worry, the show is fine to watch from the Darkness Rising: Part 1
