What do I do in a fudge recipe, if I don't have wax paper to line the pan? What else can I use? Crisco?

Answer:

You can either put down a layer of parchment paper or aluminum foil and then grease that with the Crisco or butter, or just grease the panThe wax paper (or foil or parchment paper) is normally used so you can lift the whole block out of your pan before you cut it into piecesIf you only grease the pan, some pieces won't lift completely out of the panIf perfectly cut squares matter, then put down something to line the pan so you can lift it out whole.
You'd need an alloy, possibly one of the aircraft grade duralumin series - alloyed with copper or zincThere are always downsides, though, and you could wind up with a more brittle or corrosion-prone tube.
