Question:

What do I need to know to get started riding Motorcycles? ?

I‘m a young girl who just moved to TX. When I was living in FL I always wanted a bike and to learn to ride but my dad wouldn‘t allow it. Now that I‘m on my own I want to get my license, buy a bike and learn to ride but I don‘t have any idea how to get started. Any advice?

Answer:

Start with getting a motorcycle handbook from the dmv. Study study study After that, take the test and get a permit. Buy the best gear you can afford. Helmet, jacket, gloves and pants if you can. Then sign up for an msf course. Once you take the course, you will have a good idea of where you stand in terms of riding. After that, start looking for a small displaced bike. The ninja 250 or Honda rebel is a good choice. Ride that for a season or two religiously. Practice safe riding from the techniques taught in the msf course in uncrowded areas. Then once your readfor typical streets, Congratulations! You are officially a rider.
First, make sure you can ride a peddle bike.
My advice is to attend an MSF Basic RiderCourse to learn how to safely operate the motorcycle. If you enjoy it, do some research, try out some bikes, and find a motorcycle that suits you. Make sure to have all the necessary gear to be as safe as possible, and have fun!
