Question:

What do I need to put a carpet down?

I recently moved in with my boyfriend but I told him I'd only move in if he put a carpet down because we have a 10 month old son who does not want to sit still. It's been a couple months and everytime I bring it up he dismisses it. I don't want to wait any longer. I will pay for it and he already said he knows how to put it down. The floor is completely bare...it's not hard wood flooring but the wood that's underneath the carpet it comes with. It has staples to hold down the wood and all along the edges are those sharp nail things. He said that we need something additional to put between the wood floor and the carpet that makes the carpet soft or something. What I need to know is WHAT all do I need to put down a suitable carpet for my son to play on.Thanks for any and all help!!

Answer:

carpet,tackstrip,padding, okorder good luck!
Get an area rug, it's far less work. Carpeting is a miserably difficult job, right up there with installing a door or a window. It's really hard on the knees too and you need a special tool. It really isn't fun.
something easy to clean, does not collect dander or hold dirt. No little pieces that will come unattached so that he can put in his mouth. go to a reputable carpet outlet/store. They will know best. even if you don't buy there you will at least know what to look for elsewhere.
