Since you both work I think you need to invest in a crock potCrock pots can cook all day and be ready when you get home, to just do the little stuff or simply just put it in the bowl you can make Seasoned Taco meat and just add the shells Chilli and just cook some rice Stew Soup Chicken pieces Beef Cubes Steak All you have to do is add the dish, with water or stock add you seasonings and any veggies you want.when you come home the dinner will be ready!
Dinner ideas - let the teens do some cooking, or learnIf they cook, they can't complain about dinner - and they get to help plan it as wellRestaurant cookware can be bought in a restaurant supply store - but that doesn't always mean you're buying quality stuffThey also have low end cheap junkYou can find stores online by doing a search, or look up listing for local stores onlineI like to cook and freeze, and I did that when I was single tooI also started cooking dinner when I was 10 to help out my mom who worked all dayI usually would take 1 day every week or two to cook and freezeMeatballs, meatloaf, spaghetti sauce, crockpot meals (or freeze leftovers), lasagna, baked ziti (cook the ziti very al dente), baked beans, soups freeze well Baked or roast chicken is a no brainer for dinnerChicken enchiladas - and even the young ones can help with that by rolling up the enchiladas and placing them in the baking pan (I make a very boring version so my 10 year old will eat it since she doesn't like spicy food)Make a pot of spaghetti sauce - you can even cook chicken and pork chops in the sauce, and it helps flavor the sauce, but the chicken can be overpowering to the sauceBuy ground beef or poultry and brown it all up, then package and freeze in portions to feed the family dinner for the night for tacos, burritos, a conconction like Hamburger Helper that you make, or add it to mac and cheese with a veg on the side, or added to itPasta is another no brainer - and sauces are limitless if you're creative and willing to experimentI also add to the sentiments of the crockpot - it's not only convenient and a time saver, it is great for turning a cheap and tough cut of meat into something that melts in your mouth.
