Question:

What do they do with old machines?

I saw this program on History Channel and it said that the Soviets built like 100,000 T-54/55s and the US built like 10,000 F-86 SabresSo my question is what do they do with those tanks and planes? Do they sell them to people or destroy them or what?

Answer:

Well, I'm guessing they sell them, keep some of them in reserve, recycle them (for their steel) or, in the case of the T-55, upgrade them or reuse them to build another type of vehicle (Ex: MT-55, a Mobile Bridge-Laying Vehicle on the chassis of the T-55 (this is much cheaper than designing and building a new vehicle.))
