What do you put between a carpet and a tile floor?

A carpet pad is usually put under a carpet to make it softer, to absorb sound, and to act as additional insulation between the tile floor and the room.
No carpet or tiles in my home
If you are just tallking about an area rug, you buy a rug pad. If your talking about laying carpet over tile you would use carpet padding.
if its a tile floor under it u will need a heavy carpet pad.....standard is 6 lbs. u should consider going to 8 or 10 lic. gen. contractor
There is a foam pad they use underneath the carpet. And along the edges the put a tack strip which has thousand s of upside down tacks thru a wood strip. This grips the edges of the carpet and keeps it in place. Although the pad isn't absolutely necessary it is advisable.
