Question:

What does copper ore look like?

I have a rock that looks like a copper vein runs through it. I just want to make sure that's what it is.

Answer:

There are a bunch of diferent copper ores. Most are blue or green in colour.
when i was in calif. i saw alot of rocks with vains running threw them, look like gold, but it turned out to be, what they call fool's gold, maybe this is fool's copper, would you think? s
It would be a greenish color due to oxidation
Some common copper ores are: native copper (naturally occurring copper metal) Chalcopyrite (brassy-gold coloured copper sulphide) chalcocite (dull black powdery sulphide) bornite (blue-black sulphide, shiny) Malachite (creamy green, lustrous) Azurite (brilliant blue) etc etc any of these fit the bill? Look them up on Wikipedia for more info and pictures
