Question:

What does the fcc control?

I would like to know what power, if any, the FCC actually has. Like, are they just something that people listen to like ESRB and can't actually force you to censor things or what.

Answer:

they make sure that the tv show has the proper censors an they sort it from there
If you don't listen to them they can have your show shut down. yes they make sure inapropriate things are senscored

The FCC traditionally has control over the airwaves and what is transmitted over that spectrum. This means TV networks as well as radio channels. The reason South Park gets away with so much is because it's a cable channel and therefore outside of the FCC's jurisdiction. Ditto for HBO. The FCC has the power to levy fines (in the case of Janet Jackson's wardrobe malfunction at the Superbowl they levied a fine of over $500,000.00 against CBS) as well as to revoke the broadcast license of TV and radio stations.
