Question:

what fabric to use for a rag rug?

I would like to make a rag rug what type of fabric is the best to use?

Answer:

Anything washable
A combination of old tee shirts and towels work nicely. They offer different textures and are readily available. Hope that helps!
I made one once using old sheets that we'd used for painting walls. Neat colors combos. So they were cotton if I remember right.
Kay's answer is the perfect. i exploit a rotary cutter, a metallic ruler and a slicing mat to cut back strips. I fold the cloth in 0.5 then in 0.5 again. caution- a fabric rotary cutter is quite sharp. do not go away it round young children. be careful even as utilizing it.
Most rag rugs that i have encounter have been made from cotton. Most likely from scraps of cotton tee shirt fabric. You can find old tee shirts anywhere; ie. goodwill shops, consignment, thrift, tag/yard sales. Or you can buy cheap new ones anywhere and start cutting them up. Otherwise i would use any scrap pieces of any type of fabric that you can find or buy cheap. Hope this helps! Good Luck and have fun!
