Question:

What is a good alternative for a low wattage headlight / driving lights for my 50cc scooter?

I have a small 50cc motor scooter that I use to drive to and from work. I work a 12 hour shift so I am usually headed to work in the dark hours of the morning, and leaving for home after dusk in the late evening. It has the factory headlight, but even on high beam, the visibility is low. I know that the charging system can‘t handle the normal pair of 55wat halogen driving lights, are there any alternatives that will work on these small scooters that are bright and without putting a strain on the charging system?

Answer:

um why can't it handle driving lights?? i have put driving lights on most of the mopeds i have had over the yearsgranted i didn't drive with them on the entire time and usually only put on onebut still it worked just fine ** if u have serious problem running driving lights disconnect the headlight and run them instead
At any auto parts store you can buy little LED running lights that provide pretty good illumination. I bought a pair from Advanced Auto Parts and stuck them onto my gf's scooter, they look like little bug-eyed frog eyes and all I did was hardwire them into the horn wires. Worked pretty well, too bad the rest of the bike was shiite
LED lights are much brighter, and use much less power than a regular bulb. You can pick them up at the local auto parts store for about $8 a pop.
