I live right by a bay and i want to go out on a small boat to go fishingWhat would be a good boat and motor to bye that will work well together?
A 16 foot aluminum jon boat (flat bottom)and a 10 horse Tohatsu outboard would perform well for inshore calm water use.I suugest new,,,,You might be able to aquire a decent used trailer,battery and small trolling motor in this price range.A round bottom open aluminum boat has higher sides(freeboard) but.you are starting to get into more expense and with motor,trailer you are going to get over budget.You would be surprised to see how a jon or a 14 foot round bottom boogies along with a 10 horse.A 16 aluminum,high sided windsheild and padded seat runabout would put you thousands over budget and require double the horsepower.Be vey wary of used boat ,motor combos.you could spend 2500 for a pile of scrap metal
