Question:

what is cheaper to supe up and get the best performance on a straight away a muscle car or an import tuner?

im looking for a project car, either an import or a muscel car, i want to get the best bang for my buck so i was wondering if you would get better performance from an import tuner or an american muscel car

Answer:

Like E G said the 80's domestics have tons of potential and are dirt cheap. If you wanna be different late 60's to early 70's full size cars a 1969 Buick Electra 225 for example are 15-14 second cars out of the box some even got into the 13's (SS427 Biscayne/Impala these are not cheap) this guy put an improved stock cam (same lift different duration) with 2.70 or 2.90 something gears on a 1969 Cadillac Deville and ran a 14.9393mph. 150 shot of nitrous- mid 13s over 100mph. These cars are more expensive than a 83 cutlass but you can find good ones under 10K and even under 1K.
another word for it is load levelers. it means you have a small air compressor probably under the hood that pumps up the back struts when you get a load in it.
A V8 rear wheel drive is less expensive and easier to work on, AND can handle head to head with imports with the right suspension goodies. Using the term muscle car does mean you'll pay a premium for the intital purchase of a vehicle to build, as they are very popular with middle aged guys with real jobs and big paychecks. I'd opt for a car with that platform, but not a real musclecar. GM G-Bodies are probably one of the cheapest cars to build out there.
go with a muscle car, example on fast and the furious, doms car lifted up on two wheels, brians needed to use his nos just to keep up.
