It is necessary to move material from the docks to the machinery for processing into product. So in a manufacturing business you have your machinery for production and equipment to support it and sales. Machinery = drill presses, benders, punches, forges, lathes etc. Equipment = Forklifts, pallet trucks, telephones, computers, vehicles, racking etc.

It is gernally the materials that a person or ojbject is equipped with in order to perform a function. eg the indicator light on a car. Machinery tends to be either wood plastic or metal in construction. It is a contrapation built to serve a particular purpose it may form part of equipment in a partivulat case or it may be standalone in function eg a Traffic Light
