Question:

What is it like being a Nuke in the Navy?

I'm in the process of enlisting in the Navy and am exploring my career options. Being a Nuke is appealing because of the pay, but I want a really exciting job with lots of travel. Any suggestions?

Answer:

Minimum six year obligation after Nuke school.
There's a load of travel (A LOAD,) but the only good excitement is the one you get in port. You are sitting on the water floating about for thousands of miles, with nothing in sight except more water and a tonne of dials in front of you. Pays great though which is the most important bit. Excitement and fun would be no different to the other branches. Pay depends on what role you play but most roles on a Nuke would pay well. Also get used to the amount of s*** you'll get from people, the Navy have by far the majority of unwanted attention out of the branches generally.
Robert-Navy nuke has nothing to do with silos. It's nuke power not nuke weapons. It's not boring, and there's more than sitting and staring at dials to it. You get to travel and go anywhere your ship or boat goes.
Lots of detail and long hours. Good pay, usually tax-free. Good bonus money. Good options to get college degrees. And they have a lot of job offers form civilian companies.
definite and no. that's what you're making of it. on occasion you get lots (2 years of college and not going out to sea) and on occasion you get screwed over persistently for days, weeks, months on end. I hated being a Nuke after the learning, yet i individually liked my branch once I have been given the deliver. so a procedures as bonuses...SRB it surprisingly wonderful, distinctly in case you reenlist tax loose. you may massive call Re-up @ your 2 year element for a 24 month extension (I have been given 68K as an ET3 on the time). Nuke professional-pay is barely $a hundred and fifty/month despite if it particularly is something. no longer a real Bonus however the undeniable fact which you will look down on surprisingly plenty anybody else interior the army is surprisingly cool. listening to Airdales talk approximately what particularly happens down interior the Nuke flowers is surprisingly relaxing too. Oh, you come out of Bootcamp as an E-3, positioned on E-4 after A college (as long as you dodge getting caught underage eating, or doing something else stupid), and once you're an ET, you're making E-5 first attempt at your deliver (different the time) or in any value (EM/MM/ET/ELT) you may massive call for E-5, gets a commission acceptable away, and get your housing pay (BAH). It sucks surprisingly undesirable on occasion, yet i do no longer ideas it.
