Or You can try putting a small nail in just before the sloped part to prevent the card from contacting it.Leave the nail protruding up just so it touches the wall part of the lock.(hard to explain without being there).This prevents the card from touching the place where it can slide in to push back the place where it unlocks the lock.

dont know about cleaning but one way to empty it is use it it should be carbondioxide gas not foam
