It seems to me that both of you are rude and shouldn't be living together. Fighting over dog's and such is just immature. And if your friends are more important than the relationship you should be trying to build with your MIL or your future husband, than you should rethink getting married in the first place.
20ft tape about 5-6 bucks. i would get a 25 foot. used for measuring flint striker. probably 2-3 bucks. used to light oxyacetalyne torches soapstone. maybe 5 bucks for a box of like 25 or 30. used for marking metal mig glove. 15 bucks for a pack of 3. protects hands from sparks and hot metal glasses 5 bucks. protects eyes angle grinder or pneumatic cutter. 35-80 bucks. cutting and grinding metals welding jacket 30 bucks. protetcts body helmet. 30-400 bucks. shields eyes from arc flash work boots 50-80. protects feet. honestly for just starting out you wont need any high tech stuff. just get the simple personal safety stuff and your school will provide the tools and stuff. and you'll learn all about this stuff when u first get to school.
