What is the best Gas Additive?

Answer:

Use gas stations that label their gas,Top-Tier". Top-Tier fuels have the best and most detergents available in today's gasoline. Use Top-Tier fuels on a regular basis and you will not need to purchase gas additives.
After having my 2012 Nissan start seeming a little sluggish and not running real smooth, I ask the man at the part house what to use and he told me Lucas fuel additive for diesel and gas engine. It come in a little bottle for one tank of gas (treats up to 18 gal.) that you can buy a little cheaper at Walmart. I didn t notice too much that time, but I used another bottle 2 fill-ups later and did hat time. The car seemed to have more pep and was running smoothly. It has about 55,000 miles and you hardly feel the engine running. I put in my first bottle in 2014 summer, and add a small bottle about every 3rd or 4th fill up now. It s not that expensive and the car is doing great.
CRC makes Guaranteed To Pass for both gas and diesel engines. It is made to be used before emissions testing to pass but can also be used as an additive just to clean up the fuel system. I have found I gain about 10-20 miles extra per tank (with a 20 gallon tank) after using it for the next 2 or 3 tanks. This is the only additive I have seen do something. The others just seem to burn up with the gasoline without any observable difference.
sort of depends what you expect the additive to do? clean your fuel injectors? squeak your old car though the emissions test without changing your catalytic converter or oxygen sensor? remove water in your gas tank? increase your horsepower? increase you gas mileage? (just for the record, the last category of gas additives consists of absolute and total SCAMS driven by the recent increase in gas prices) I cannot think of what additive you would add on a regular basis as general preventative maintenance that is not already in most major brands of gas. of course, that doesnt mean some marketer will not try to sell you something ... if you are willing to part with cash, someone will find a way to convince you to give it to them
