I personaly own a Lightning Shock rod and love it. Runs about $50 and is a stout rod. I have a 7' MH action that I like to use for flipping and have a Diawa Megaforce reel w/ twitch bar on it. The guides are beefed up to handle braided line if you wish and the split grip is pretty sweet. I have had nothing but good times with it. I own 4 Berkley rods and have nothing negative to say about them.
Check the batteries in all five smoke detectors. In many homes all smoke detectors are wired together so that they all go off at the same time in the event of a fire. Also if the battery backup in one is low it will beep in all to alert you of a failure. I hope this helps.
