Question:

what is the best size or thickness of wheels?

im a beginner at skateboarding. im doing some internet shopping and there are like 51 mm wheels through 54 mm wheels. and im soo confused! which one is best? could someone please answer soon? thanks soo much! =)

Answer:

skateboard wheels range from 40mm-60mm the most common ones are in the 50mm range. The bigger the wheel the faster you'll go. Vert riders used bigger wheels like from 55mm and up. street skaters use smaller wheels. the smaller the wheel the lower you are to the ground making flip trick easier. I use 52-54mm it's not that big of a deal really if you use smaller wheels like a 51-53mm and have low trucks you'll probably need a riser pad to stop from wheel bite, which is when the wheel hits the deck and stops. I recomend an 1/8 inch riser anyways it helps the board from flexing around the truck bolts and making hairline cracks which is why a lot of skateboards brake. The best size of wheel is up to you as a beginner i'd start off with 53 or 54mm and good bearings like bones reds.
