What is the best soil to use for indoor herb plants?

I like to use a potting soil lightened with some perlite and vermiculite. These will add moisture retention to the soil and make it less weighty on the tender roots. Hi: I have grown thousands of herb seeds in a greenhouse as well as indoors. Here are a few tips for you. Purchase a light weight potting soil with no bark. Add some vermiculite and humus to the soil. This is a great combo for herbs. You can also include some sand as herbs love a sandy soil. If you are germinating your seeds, add some hot water to the soil. This is great for the root systems to develop. I hope this has helped some.
