Question:

What is the best vacuum for WOOD floors?

I've tried Bissell, and nothing works like my 14 yr old Dirt Devil. I cannot get filters for that anymore tho......I want something that doesn't kick sand up on my feet, I NEED SUCTION. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Answer:

I own a cleaning service, and what we use are called backpack vacs. You can get them at your local vacuum cleaner store for around $200 on up.You can google backpack vacuum cleaners and see the various models and price range. This type of vacuum has strong suction and its easy to use. This vacuum is for HARD FLOORS ONLY so it doesn't have a brush roller that scratches wood floors like most uprights. My cleaning crews love this vac for vacuuming pet fur. Good luck!
Our Wind tunnel has the floor level on it..It works great for our tile and wood floors..
I have tile, but I love my Dyson. I have the lightweight one, I have to empty it twice when vacuuming, but it's worth it! My Oreck also worked great, but I needed attachments.
marydass...You know, I hate to say this, but have you tried that Swiffer? It doesn't kick out any dust, stuff sticks to the cloth and you shake it out til the job is done or the Swiffer gives up! They are inexpensive considering how long a cloth lasts, and you don't need to haul a vac out when it's time for a cleaning. Good luck - LT
I have had an Oreck vacuum cleaner now for over ten years and it is, by far, the best one I have ever owned. It works great on carpet as well as hardwood floors, linoleum, etc. I don't think that you can beat it.
