What is the best way to clear a clog bathroom sink drain?
The best products out there are draino or lye. They will stain the brass. If the other methods listed here don't work, just use them and buy a can of Brasso. This will restore the brass to original color and leave a coating on it prevent discoloration in the future. Or turn water supply off and go under the sink cabinet. Remove the link between pipes and pour draino or lye into it that way. Wear eyesplash protection always.
You need a power plunger. It has a smaller inside sort of rubber thing (that is in the inside of the large rubber outside part) that fits into the drain hole. You will have to remove the stopper for this. Try small amount of Liquid Plumber or Power Draino. If this does not work. If all else fails, you may have to snake the drain. It's probably clogged with hair.
You can try pouring some baking soda in it and then pouring white vinegar in also & see if the volcanic activity will clear it out, or use a plunger, or a chemical like Drano, or you can gently take the pipe apart, remove the elbow in it and run water thru the elbow. That is usually where a drain gets plugged up at. If none of those things work, you can use a drain snake on it (be careful), or call a plumber,
If possible get you garden hose and rap a wash cloth around it to get a good seal have the overflow plugged and have some one turn it on slowly the clog could be deeper in the drain this will put more presser on the clog clearing every thing out of the way
Most bathroom sinks clog with hair, however kids have a unique way of losing items down the sink. If you have a waste pop-up stop than mostly likely you have a build of hair. To remove the pop-up you have to unscrew the rod keeper just above the trap under the sink and slide the pop-up rod back far enough to be able to pull the stop out. At this point you will find the hair ball most likely hanging from the bottom of the stop. If this doesn't appear to be the problem, place a bowl beneath the waste trap('u' or 's' shaped pipe under sink) and unscrew the connections to visually inspect the trap for small items that may have lodged in the trap. Most likely if your sink fills quickly and drains slowly or doesn't drain at all, than the clog will most likely be in the pipes just under the sink. Goodluck!
