what is the cheapest way to heat an inground pool?

Answer:

Having a pool cover and many sunny days.
We have tubing installed under the red concrete. this is connected to the pump. As the pump filters the water and sends it back to the pool the water is heated by the sun. the solar cover truly only heats the surface water and prevents heat loss at night.
The cheapest way to heat your pool would be to have a heat exchanger system. This is basically a steel cylinder with a coil inside it which is plumber into a line going to your hot water heater or boiler and heats thru transference into the pool water which has plumbing that threads into the two ports on opposite sides of the exchanger. You will also require a aqua stat to regulate the temperature you want in your pool. This does take on average a couple of days to a week to get up to temperature. Average cost between 300-800 dollars depending on the size plus installation by either a certified plumber and or a experienced pool tech. A pool blanket by the way will only help keep heat in and lower your utility costs it will never heat your entire pool as is simply to vast an amount of water to do so. The most expensive would be a High Efficiency gas heater system which will run you in the thousands roughly 5-7 grand plus installation by a certified gas fitter.
