These are great bands: Abiotic In Mourning Textures Exivious MindFlow Cloudscape Anomalous Carver, you have a good answer, but just because Opeth has DM vocals, doesn't make them DM.
Prog metal: Symphony X Dream Theater Mastodon Porcupine Tree Kamelot Tool Shadow Gallery Liquid Tension Experiment Andromeda Pain of Salvation Riverside Cynic (later) Tech/prog death: Atheist Nile Opeth Decapitated Gojira Suffocation Obscura Born of Osiris The Contortionist Cynic (early) @Erik Hatechapel: Oh please, even after all the arguments I've had thrown at me, I fail to see how Opeth aren't death metal. They still use death growls, they still use blast beats, they still use down-tuned guitars (albeit more so on their Ghost Reveries album), they're still death metal to me. That and the fact that you guys fight over their genre doesn't leave me convinced either. Now I'm not gonna argue with you, alright? That'd pretty pointless anyway since we're not gonna come to an agreement. And thanks for the TD, just because my opinion isn't yours. Grow up and get over it.
