A suggestion. Many fire departments will give you a courtesy inspection. Also gas/propane company's may do the same in your area? Make the calls. Just hope the smell is not coming from something in your ducts or intake system. If you are renting consult your landlord. If you heating system is 30 years old. With energy rebates and other state and federal programs, I would consider replacing the heater as it will be so much more efficient then the old one, that I will safely say it will pay for itself in cheaper utility costs in about 7 years. And the fact that you have a newer unit in your home will only enhance your home and comforts in the winter. Plus then you can sleep at night safely! Good Luck!
