What is the industrial application background of motor reversible braking with braking resistor?

Answer:

At this point, you can consider the use of a larger than normal contactor to meet the larger braking current. As the reverse braking adopts the speed relay, the braking principle is controlled by the speed principle. The braking effect is better and the use is more convenient. The cage motor brake is often used in this way, as shown in figure 2-15.
When the motor capacity is small, you can not string the braking resistor to simplify the circuit.
The former such as reverse braking, braking energy; the latter such as electromagnetic mechanical brake. Because the reverse braking current is larger, when the motor capacity is large, the brake resistance will be lowered by the series of resistance in the stator circuit to reduce the braking current
The reversible braking control circuit (circuit diagram) of an electric motor: the braking method has the electrical method and the electrical mechanical union method.
The reversible braking of motor with braking resistor is widely used in the electrical control of work.
