We just bought a sectional last month made of chenille material and our cat is TEARING it up. Yes, we've bought her a large scratching post and everything, but she's lazy and prefers to scratch on the what's most convenient for her.There are little threads already unwinding from the cushions and some of the cotton stuffing popping out of her little claw mark holes, HELP!!We have this current and BRAND NEW couch for sale. :( What material can we most depend on the second time around???*pardon if this is miscategorized, didn't know which other best category to pick besides the actual cat one*

A 100% polyester microfiber. Additional hint - cats don't like citrus smells. When you get your new sofa, place lemons on plates on each cushion under the sofa to deter the cat. Pretty soon the cat will associate the sofa with a citrus smell will resist getting the urge to scratch. There are also citrus scented cat deterrant sprays at the pet store. Before you sell the old sofa though, consider buying cut yardage of the fabric have the areas that are torn reupholstered. Call your furniture store see if cut yardage is available. But, if the sofa was inexpensive in the first place, you might as well buy new.
