Question:

What is the price of copper per lb or oz?

Specifically scrap copper.I'm in Massachusetts if that made a difference.

Answer:

First it depends on the type of copper, with scrap copper there are two different types of copper that you will mostly be dealing with, first is No. 1 Copper or Clean Copper which is coper tubing, piping, and wiring with no insulation or shielding, the current price you can expect to get from a reputable scrap buyer is around $2.25/pound. The second type, No. 2 Copper or Dirty Copper is any copper or wiring that is still wrapped in any type of insulation, or shielding, or is still fitted to to any type of plastic fitting, you can expect to get around $2.10/pound. There is a third fairly common type which is Sheet Copper, but most people dont run into this very often, current price is around $1.70/pound. These prices are not exact, and can very from buyer to buyer, and from day to day. But it should give you a rough idea of what you can expect to be paid.
