what is the ratio for the cement to install cement block; sand, cement . and mortor creme?

Answer:

There is a difference in the sand for motar that the sand you use for pouring cement such as a slab. The motar sand is very, very fine and for the cement you can just use builders sand. I recommend a 3 to 1 mixture. Not sure what you mean by motar creme unless you are referring to a latex additive. I would absolutely recommend using the additive, it makes the motar more of an adhesive and also makes it repel moisture so it will last years longer especially in colder climates.
for mortar mix it is 4 shovels of sand to one shovel of portland cement. Mix to your pefered consistity.
Easiest thing to do is just buy mortar mix, but if you insist on the hard way, mix 100 lb. bag of portland cement and 22 shovelfuls of sand. Enjoy! ( Never, ever heard of mortar creme, is that a new product?)
I am curently researching that very question. The average answer is 3 shovels of sand per one shovel of cement. However, I will be filling the holes of my cement blocks. I have read a few reports that pouring slabs or filling block holes you can use 5 shovels of sand per 1 shovel of cement. But, quite frankly, I am afraid that would be too weak for what I want. PS: I recommend your bottom blocks be laid with 2 shovels of sand per 1 shovel of cement. Then the rest can be 3 shovels of sand per 1 shovel of cement. Hope this helps. If you discover anything about filling the block holes, please e-mail me the info.
