Question:

What is the smoke time on four beer can chickens?

I am planning on smoking four beer can chickens for a small dinner party for our church leadersI would LOVE for them to truly enjoy it since they do so much for our churchI have smoked beer can chicken before, but never more than one at a timeI have a smaller smoker (charcoal grill), I can do two at a time, my questions are, how long will it take to smoke two at the same time? Because I'm having to smoke in intervals, what would be the best way to reheat them without loosing the juices? What is the best way to store them until ready to serve? Only experienced, serious answers, I hate when inexperienced people state the obvious without ever answering the question.

Answer:

I use a vertical water pan charcoal smoker and USUALLY smoke whole chicken for 4 hours at 225-250 - if they are not done (and this is normally the case) I wrap them tightly in aluminum foil and finish them in the ovenUnder smoking would be my preference (2-3hrs) may be enough - nothing worse than getting bitter smoked chicken from over smokingLast chicken I smoked I cooled while still in the foil the put in plastic freezer bag and froze it - and it worked out fine but I think better if you can just cool it and reheat in foil 350 for about 20 - 25 minutesFreezing tends to extract more moisture.
