I mean, I know it is the little block thingy but do you need to charge it? What are the regular batterys they come with for?
The play and Charge Kit, it's like 15-20 bucks usually. It comes with the charger and a rechargeable battery, you can use AA batteries too.
The battery pack that comes with it does not actually have any power attached to it. Batteries need to be put in it. However, you can buy a plug and charge play kit, which is a rechargeable battery with usb adaptor that attaches to the controller. Hope this helped.

If you have a regular batter pack, the pack in run by 2 double A batteries inside the pack. Look for 2 holes on the bottom of the battery pack. If you have a rechargeable one, you can tell if there is no place to put batteries, there should be a chord that plugs into the top of the xbox controller and into the controller port on the xbox
