Question:

what kind of car alarm should i get?

I‘m looking to get a car alarm because about a week ago, someone stole my car right out of the parking lot where i work, while i was working. Now the only thing is, these people are professionals and apparently have locksmith grade master keys because they did not hot wire my car, they started it the same way i do. A friend of mine, however, was telling me he has an alarm in his car where while it‘s armed, it completely cuts off power to the starter. And the only way to disarm it is by the remote unlock

Answer:

possible tps, some fault codes will but the pcm into a default mode and max out line pressure in the transmission resulting in hard shifting. but there are other things that can cause the same thing. more times than not the ets light and check engine light are not related, but it is possible depending on the fault. take it somewhere and have it scanned. will at least point you in the right direction. beats throwing parts at it.
Your friend gave you the answer. You want a different answer, but the best answer was what your friend told you. Ask them again, and write it down so you get the right thing. Also, have a LoJack installed on your car, so if these pros do take the car you can find it- hopefully before they strip it.
I have the Viper 5002 2-way security system in my Yukon ( I have t.v.s and lots of speakers and 2 amps) It shows me on my remote if somebody taps the car by beeping a few times and showing a hammer, or if my car was actually broken into. It also does the ignition cut off thing, but professionals will break into the car and disconnect your battery and steal everything.Maybe even getting lo-jack installed so you can track it if it does get stolen.
