Question:

What kind of car lift should I get?

I was looking into getting a car lift to use for repairs at home and I'm not sure what to pick up. I was looking at some like the MaxJax, but could still like some feedback. Thanks to those who answer!

Answer:

You can even get away in most all cases with 2 jack stands, at least for awhile...
I'd like to have one. The customer reviews below are all very positive. The scissor lift in the second source is only half the price (both are rated at 6000 lbs) but the access looks a lot worse - lower lift, and then there are the scissors. Reviews are not as good, either. I'd rather pay for something I like than half as much for something I don't like.
That depends on your budget and how serious you are about doing your own car maintenance. A floor jack and two pairs of jack stands is good enough for the weekend warrior type. Unless you are going pro it doesn't make sense to spend thousands on a lift, plus your garage has to have the clearances for it and the floor has to be able to support that kind of weight (most don't).
